What Is ICR In An IP Camera?
An ICR is a mechanical shutter design. It is placed between the lens and image sensor and is controlled by a motor or electromagnet. When the ICR is switched on, it will block infrared light and allow only visible light to pass through. When the ICR is switched off, infared light will be allowed and images will be turned into black and white mode, which is more sensitive to infared light.
Here are some basic features of ICR.
- ICR stands for Infrared Cut Filter Removal.
- It allows the camera to switch between day and night mode automatically.
- Infrared (IR) light is used to see in low light or complete darkness.
- During the day, the camera uses a color filter to block IR light from entering the lens.
- It allows the camera to capture accurate colors.
- At night, the camera switches to black and white mode and removes the color filter to allow more light, including IR light, to enter the lens.
- It improves the camera’s ability to see in the dark.
- The process of switching between day & night modes is known as ICR.
- It allows IP cameras to capture high-quality images in a variety of lighting conditions.
