Day & Night Switching

Day-night  switching is a feature of some IP cameras that allows them to automatically adjust their settings between day and night modes. In day mode, the camera will use a color image sensor to capture images. In night mode, the camera will switch to a monochrome image sensor and use infrared LEDs to illuminate the scene. This allows the camera to continue recording in low-light conditions.

IR cut filter removeable

The ICR (IR-Cut filter Removable) is a filter that is placed in front of the image sensor in a camera to remove infrared light from the image. This is because infrared light is invisible to the human eye, and it can cause interference with the camera's image sensor.

smart ir rule

Smart IR is a technology used in IP cameras to improve the quality of images captured in low-light conditions. Smart IR works by automatically adjusting the intensity of the camera's infrared LEDs to compensate for the distance of an object from the camera. This prevents objects from being overexposed and helps to maintain a good level of detail in the image.

AGC (Auto Gain Control)

AGC amplifies the signals from  sensor to make image brighter during night time. This amplification is called gain. The camera can automatically adjust the gain control according to signal level.

AGC (Auto Gain Control)

digital noise reduction (dnr)

DNR plays an important role in reducing the noise in order to get better image quality during night time.

3D NDR can be used to improve and enhance image quality and save bandwidth.

DIGITAL NOISE REDUCTION (DNR)

DarkFighter Technology

Darkfighter Technology

DarkFighter is a technology developed by Hikvision that allows their IP cameras to capture high-quality images in low-light conditions. DarkFighter cameras use most advance CMOS image sensor with the optimized 3D DNR algorithm, a wide aperture lens, and advanced image processing algorithms to capture more light and reduce noise. This results in clear and detailed images even in darkness. The minimum illumination in color mode is 0.002LUX.

DarkFighter X Dual Sensors

DarkFighter X Dual Sensors is a new technology developed by Hikvision that allows their IP cameras to capture high-quality images in even lower light conditions than traditional DarkFighter cameras. DarkFighter X Dual Sensor cameras use two sensors, one for visible light and one for infrared light. This allows the camera to capture more information in low-light conditions, resulting in clearer and more detailed images.

Two images are combined to form different spectra into One Full Color image.

colorVu technology

ColorVu is a technology developed by Hikvision that allows their IP cameras to capture color images in low-light conditions. ColorVu cameras use a combination of a large image sensor, a wide aperture lens, and advanced image processing algorithms to capture more light and reduce noise. This results in clear and detailed color images even in darkness.

1. back light compensation (BLC)

Backlight compensation (BLC) is a feature on security cameras that helps to improve image quality in scenes with strong backlight. When BLC is enabled, the camera will automatically adjust the exposure to brighten the darker areas of the image, while keeping the brighter areas from being overexposed. This can help to prevent people or objects from being silhouetted against a bright background.

Question:
How do I enable WDR/HLC/BLC on a Hikvision camera?

** You cannot enable BLC or HLC if WDR is enabled/on. Either BLC and HLC is off and WDR is on, or vice versa.

** BLC and HLC cannot be enabled at the same time

2. wide dynamic range (WDR)

Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) is a technology that helps to improve the image quality of security cameras in scenes with high-contrast lighting. WDR works by capturing two images of the same scene, one with a short exposure time and one with a long exposure time. The two images are then combined to create a single image with a wider dynamic range, which means that it can show both the bright and dark areas of the scene in more detail.

3. high light constraint (HLC)

High Light Constraint (HLC) is a technology that helps to improve the image quality of security cameras in scenes with very strong lighting. It constraints the strong light in the picture, so that surrounding area won't be over exposed and can be seen clearly. It is widely used in traffic monitoring at nighttime, where license plates must be recognized against strong car light.

Fast moving objects (fmo)

Fast Moving Objects  (FMO) can be difficult to capture on camera, as they can often be blurred or out of focus. There are a few things that can be done to improve the chances of capturing a clear image of a fast moving object.

advance functions

IP cameras have a wide range of advanced features that can be used to improve security, productivity, and overall convenience. Some of the most common advanced features include:

1. Rotate Mode

To make a complete use of 16: 9 aspect ratio. Users can turn the rotate function on when you use a camera in a narrow view scene. When installing the cameras, turn the camera to 90 degree or rotate the 3 axis lens to 90 degree and it’s like the rotation model as all and set the rotate mode as on, you will get a normal view of scene with 9:16 aspect ratio.

2. Hikvision 2nd Generation Lens

Hikvision 2nd Generation Lens is a new line of lenses for IP cameras that offers a number of improvements over the previous generation.

When camera is facing strong light source, halo will appear. Blue glass reduces the halo thus to make the image clearer.

defog technology

3. Defog Technology

Defog technology use a combination of hardware and software to improve image quality in foggy conditions. The hardware component is a special lens that helps to reduce the amount of fog that is captured by the camera. The software component uses algorithms to remove the fog from the image.

4. 4K Ultra HD

4K Ultra HD (UHD) is a video display resolution of 3840x2160 pixels, which is four times the pixel count of Full HD (1920x1080). This means that UHD TVs have four times the number of pixels as Full HD TVs, which results in a much sharper and more detailed image.

bandwidth Control

1. Bandwidth And Storage Space

Key Factors

what factors effect the bandwidth and storage space

2. Video Compression Type H265+

Different Snaroes Bandwidth/Storage Space== H265+ & H265
Fixed scene with few moving objects H265+ saves 75%
Fixed scene with many moving objects in a certain time period(not very frequently). H265+ saves 50%
Changing scene with moving objects all the time. Nearly the same

3. Bitrate: VBR vs CBR

3. Bitrate: VBR

In Variable Bit Rate(VBR) the bit rate is variable but image quality is constant and good.
1. It is suitable for scene with different movement in different times.
2. Can't estimate an accurate bandwidth and storage consumption.

3. Bitrate: CBR

In Constant Bit Rate(CBR) the bit rate is constant but as a result the image quality is not variable.
1. It is suitable for constant scene.
2. Can estimate an average bandwidth and storage consumption.

4. Scene Complexity

3. Image Complexity

Complex Scenes generate higher bandwidth and storage need.

Bandwidth Control on camera

IP cameras are a type of digital camera that uses the Internet Protocol (IP) to transmit video and audio data over a network. IP cameras offer a number of advanced features that make them superior to traditional CCTV cameras, including:

1. Parameter Modification

Network video products utilize network bandwidth and storage space based on their configuration.

Under Insufficient Bandwidth, we need to lower the bit rate in order to see the video.

  1. Chose better stream type
    • Main Stream
    • Sub Stream
    • Third Stream
  2. Set the lower resolution and frame rate if there is no enough bandwidth.

2. Region Of Interest

Region Of Interest(ROI)

ROI encoding helps to differentiate the ROI and background information in video compression. Which assign more encoding resources to the region of interest, thus to increase the quality of ROI while the background quality goes down.

Troubleshooting

Case-1: Image clear in day but blurry ant night

Issue:

Depth Of Field is long during the day and short at night, when you are adjusting the focusing point according to daytime DOF. The then image will blurry at night.

Solution:

Adjust the focusing point during the night.
